My hourly rate is $150 and daily rate is $1000 for flight and ground instruction. Block rates are available. My daily rate applies to real-world cross-country flight training (e.g. in a newly purchased aircraft, insurance checkout), accelerated training and etc. I'm happy to spend more than 8 hours with you though I typically limit the flight to 6 - 7 hours to comply with 61.195(a) and balance between learning and fatigue. Please note that my hourly and daily rates are for my services only and apply to all of the time that I spend with you including the time on the ground and in the aircraft. They do not include aircraft rental fees, airport expenditures, fuel, oil or travel expenses.
I offer an all-inclusive discovery flight package for $449. The discovery flight can be technical in nature and is suitable for those who are exploring pursing a private pilot certificate. Before the flight, we'll conduct an orientation to flying, an introduction to the airplane, and a briefing on the airspace and route. We'll then fly to the nearby practice areas and you'll have as much control as you're comfortable. After the flight, we'll walk through the private pilot training requirements and discuss the best training strategies based on your personal circumstances. The package consists of a 1 hour flight, a 1 - 1.5 hours ground, a pilot logbook and a discovery flight certificate. I'm more than happy to answer any questions that you may have about flying and your training needs.
As an Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) member, I volunteer my time and aircraft conducting EAA Young Eagles flight. It is a free program for youths between the ages of 8 and 17 to inspire them in the world of aviation. It typically consists of a 15 minutes ground and a 30 minutes flight. At the completion of the flight, you'll receive an EAA brochure, Young Eagles logbook and a certificate. The flight will also be recorded in the EAA Young Eagles electronic logbook. You can learn more about the program here.
I primarily provide flight instruction out of the airports on the peninsula and south bay: PAO (preferred), SQL, SJC and RHV. I can also drive or fly myself to other airports and locations for an additional travel fee. For those who do not only an airplane, I provide a 1982 Cessna 182 for all levels of flight training, including student solo. See Fleet for details and rental rates .
I'm happy to instruct in your own airplane. I believe it's a great opportunity to gain familiarity and proficiency in the airplane you fly regularly. When instructing in your own airplane, I require to be added to your insurance as a named insured with a waiver of subrogation.
I'm generally available in the early mornings and evenings during weekdays and all day on weekends. Please contact me if you'd like to schedule a ground or flight session with me. If you need to cancel a specific session, please give me as much notice as possible via email, text or phone. No-shows will be billed for the time as scheduled.
Payment is due at the end of each session. I accept cash, Venmo, Zelle and Paypal.
